چکیده
Melia dubia is one of the important tree species in agroforestry models across India owing to its multifarious utilities, compatibility with various agricultural, horticultural and forage crops. Inspite pan prevalence, research data pertaining spatial distribution root system scarce which primarily responsible for determination capacity absorb water nutrients preferentially over other allied Belowground competitions are major constraints successful intercropping woody/agroforestry ecosystems thus roots assumes paramount importance. The pattern selected trees a twelve-year-old Malabar neem (Melia Cav.) plantation grown at 4 m x spacing was studied using logarithmic spiral trench technique assess level competitive/complementary impacts system. Root intensity decreased steadily as diameter classes increased function soil depth well lateral distance. It observed that 65.07 % total on profile wall were fine (size class 2.5 to5.0 mm). Major share occupied near base 60.14% found be accumulated upper 20 cm layer soil. In terms distance, maximum number recorded 0.26 431.1 m-2, 65.85% concentrated within 80 distance from tree.

Responses of root growth and distribution of maize to nitrogen application patterns under partial root-zone irrigation
A field experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of varying nitrogen (N) supply andirrigation methods on the root growth and distribution of maize (Zea mays L.) in Wuwei, northwest China in 2011 and 2012. The irrigation treatments included alternate furrow irrigation(AI), fixed furrow irrigation (FI) and conventional furrow irrigation (CI). The N supply treatmentsincluded alternate ...
متن کاملThe Pattern of Root Distribution and Water Absorption in Layered Soil
The pattern of root distribution in layered soils is one of the significant issues in the calculations of soil water and irrigation management and planning. The objective of this study was to determine the pattern of root distribution of soybean in layered soils and its effect on water uptake. The research was conducted in a completely randomized design with 15 treatments consisting of three di...
متن کاملStandardization of DNA Extraction Method from Mature Dried Leaves and ISSR-PCR Conditions for Melia dubia Cav. —A Fast Growing Multipurpose Tree Species
Melia dubia Cav. of family Meliaceae is a fast growing, high value tree species native to India. Isolating DNA from matured dried leaves of M. dubia was difficult due to accumulation of secondary metabolites, majorly polyphenolics, which resulted in dark brown to black colour of the pellet. In this study, a modified STE-(Sucrose, Tris-HCl and Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid) CTAB (hexadecylt...
متن کاملRoot Foraging Influences Plant Growth Responses to Earthworm Foraging
Interactions among the foraging behaviours of co-occurring animal species can impact population and community dynamics; the consequences of interactions between plant and animal foraging behaviours have received less attention. In North American forests, invasions by European earthworms have led to substantial changes in plant community composition. Changes in leaf litter have been identified a...
متن کاملUpdate on Root Nutrient Foraging Root Nutrient Foraging
During a plant’s lifecycle, the availability of nutrients in the soil is mostly heterogeneous in space and time. Plants are able to adapt to nutrient shortage or localized nutrient availability by altering their root system architecture to efficiently explore soil zones containing the limited nutrient. It has been shown that the deficiency of different nutrients induces root architectural and m...
